Health tips

Rachel had her first child, Harvey, while starring in the Seven Network reality series 'Yummy Mummies'. The popular Instagram personality is now busier than ever. Since filming season two of 'Yummy Mummies', she's given birth to another bouncing boy, Harry.

We asked Rachel how she juggles the mummy and the yummy.

You've managed to stay fit and healthy despite being a busy mum with a career and two boys - what's your secret?

Organisation, over-planning and compromise! I always plan to fit in five sessions during the week knowing "something" always comes up and knocks me back to three (which is my actual goal!).
I do a mix of strength and cardio classes and Pilates. On the weekends I have a break, or a sneaky Sunday gym session if I've been particularly busy during the week.
My advice is to try and find a gym with like-minded people that fits into your schedule and budget.

Would you say you're an active family?

Being active is a huge part of my family's life. We love kicking the footy in the park, walking the dog, going to the swimming pool - anything that lets Harvey run outside and burn his never-ending energy!
My husband also loves being active and even rode 1000 km this year for the 'Live for Lily' charity.

Are your boys fussy eaters?

I call Harry my little garbage guy - he eats everything and lots of it! As Harvey, my three-year-old, gets older I feel he is becoming a little more fussy so I have really had to put my creative hat on to get him to eat more healthy options.
It can be a struggle getting Harvey to eat new things, but Mum's lasagna is always a favourite.
My best tip is to make meal times fun and colourful, and if all else fails get creative to hide the veggies!
What's your go-to meal when you don't have time for something elaborate?
I don't always have time to prepare, so when I'm in a hurry, I'll just cook up some sausages and steam some vegetables from the freezer.

How do you look after your health?

I decided with my second pregnancy that I wanted to be the healthiest and best version of myself. That included fitness, healthy eating and taking probiotics to assist with my digestive and immune health.
During my pregnancy with Harry I took Life-Space Probiotic for Pregnancy & Breastfeeding. We've now moved on to other products in their range. I'm taking Life-Space Broad Spectrum Probiotic, Harvey takes Life-Space Probiotic Powder for Children, and little Harry's on the Probiotic Powder for Baby.
My nanna's looking after herself too - she takes Life-Space Probiotic for 60+ Years.

What's the best thing about having kids? What's the worst?

Nothing in this world can light up my heart more than seeing my kids smile, laugh and be happy.
Bedtime routine can drive me mad, though! 5pm to 7pm is pretty wild in my household.
Is there anything surprising you've learned about the human body through being a mum?
I'm just amazed at how incredible a woman's body is. To grow a human being for nine months in my tummy still blows my mind.

If you could go back in time and give yourself some advice about raising kids, what would it be?

Don't sweat the small stuff!
